RHINOPLASTY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Peter A. Galpin M.D., FACS 1) What is a Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is the term used for surgery on the nose. When evaluating a patient for this type of surgery, we look at two major concerns: function, and appearance. Both of these factors can be effected by rhinoplasty. A “functional” rhinoplasty can open the airways (by additionally dealing with the septum and other structures of the internal airway). A “cosmetic” rhinoplasty can improve the appearance. Often these procedures are combined.
