Resolved Question: My shoulder hurts/ recoil pad?
I went to the range yesterday to practice with the rifle I will be using to bear hunt in August. The rifle is a Remington 660 in .308, it has a laminate stock with absolutely no recoil pad. The first time I shot it was yesterday. I put 40 rounds through it, and towards the end there I was really feeling it! So much so that I was cringing before the shot which was throwing my groups off. I was getting like 2 1/2 groups with 3 shots at 100 yards, and 4 at 200 yards. I also set up a 6×4 piece of concrete at 200 yards and nailed it first shot. Is that good enough, or should I practice more? I know I could have done WAY better if the recoil wasn’t so bad, like I said, the dread of pulling the trigger was throwing my groups off. My dad says I did really good, and I should be happy, but, I don’t think I did as good as I could have. So, I have been wondering exactly what to expect from the Hunters Safety course? Do they have you shoot? What kind of grouping do they expect? How do I avoid cring
