Republicans hate socialism so much, so why do they enjoy its benefits like the rest of us?

I don’t know why I bother answering questions like this. You don’t want to actually hear a legitimate answer; you merely want someone to stroke your ego and agree with you. I’m a Ronald Reagan Conservative. Reagan wanted to get rid of Social Security and Medicare (and Bush wanted to privatize Social Security. Statistics have proven that you would get probably 50% more at retirement of you were allowed to invest that money into safe funds, rather than have the government sit on it). There are some institutions that simply cannot exist to everyones satisfaction. We all know that public education is a nightmare. I’m living in Europe, and I can attest to the fact that Europeans spend as little as 1/8th the amount of money on education (no fancy buildings or football programs… sorry), but the level of education is higher. Students learn. Just check language mastery skills of Europeans against Americans. It’s not only embarrassing, it’s humilliating. Public education makes sense in part be

You’re not up on current events are you? Conservatives and Republicans have been trying to privatize social security for decades. It’s the biggest rip off of all of the socialist programs. We have been trying to get school vouchers so our tax money can go towards the school of our choice for decades instead of paying taxes for your kids then paying for private schools for a proper education on top. Unemployment compensation is an INSURANCE paid by the business owner and considered part of the employees compensation. The payments in Alaska are payments for removing their natural resource. The same as loggers pay in California and minors pay in Kentucky. It’s not welfare or a gift. It’s payment for taking something. Alaska returns it to it’s rightful owners, the citizens, instead of pissing it away like California does. Military, fire and police are doing exactly what the government is there to do! Protect it’s citizens from all threats internal and external! That is why we have a govern

Many conservatives, and non conservatives, would like a voucher program so that they can take money they have already paid in property taxes to support public schools (no choice there) and apply it toward sending their kids to private schools. I have no kids, but I still support schools with my property taxes as it is in all of society’s best interest to have children who can read and write as adults (a level barely achieved in Public Schools today). In the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts, the Liberal run state government will not allow this. As for things like infrastructure, police, fire dept, etc, there are some things that are just better under one roof, but we will disagree on how pervasive this needs to be in our society. A degree of social programs are acceptable and beneficial, socialism is not.

Keep in mind that most people on here-regardless of political affiliation-have never even scratched the surface of what can be studied and researched. CNN, NBC, MSNBC, FOX, CBS and any other network do not count as research. People like you and I, who have actually gone and studied Socialism, it’s good and bad attributes, can defend our points and not just say it’s “Good” or “Bad” with little or no basis behind our points. Pure Socialism, just like Capitalism and Communism, is self-destructive. The systems are meant to be in flux, they are not to be stagnate. Of course, few people recognize this, and their loyalties lie with party and not country. Republicans-can you agree and work with a Democrat when they are right? Democrats-can you agree and work with a Republican when they are right? They say “Of course, but…”, and show that they in truth have NO intention of working with anyone of a different affiliation. Their loyalties lie with their party, and they’d see our country ripped a

Socialism has no benefits. But if you mean the raiding of the treasury you are correct, the Repubs. and equally greedy.
