Replacing key switch in a 1991 Chevy S10. Help?
The place in my S10 where the key goes is broken and I don’t even need a key to start my truck. I bought a piece that supposedly can replace it but I’m not sure how to and I’m too broke to take it to anyone who can. My dad says it’s too big of a pain in the butt to do it so he won’t help me. Can someone give me a step-by-step, please? A: I’m not sure but I think the truck is equipped with an air bag. If so, the absolutely first thing to do is dis-connect the battery and then the airbag under the steering column. FAILURE TO DIS-CONNECT THE AIR BAG CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. Next remove the horn/air bag in the center of the steering wheel. There are two phillips screws that must be removed from under the steering wheel. The horn mechanism can now be removed.
