Religion has killed too many people- why cant people accept the medieval idea will never work?

Ha! Religion hasn’t ‘killed too many people’. It’s the people themselves who have killed ‘too many people’— the people who simply hide behind religion. Yes, I am aware of what happened in the medieval times [such a bloody era for the non-Catholics, no?] and whatever happened before the counter-reformation. I am aware of the ‘holy wars’ that happened in history. And yes, there were a lot of killings. Until today, lots of murders happen. However, history teaches us a lesson. The people then did not understand the teachings of the Bible, thus, the Catholics in the old times [popes, clergy, etc.] actually wanted those who were nonbelievers to be tortured, executed or excommunicated. They ruled with a hard hand, killed those who killed, and blahblahblah. Little did they know that it wasn’t for them to judge the evil, but it is for God to do that task in the Final Judgement.
