If the pawn shop has documentation that the notice was sent, you’re out of luck. Once the notice has left the pawn shop’s possession and gone into the postal office’s possession, the pawn shop is no longer responsible for it’s delivery. I am a pawnbroker in WA, and the laws are different from state to state, so you may want to have a consultation with an attorney. We don’t have to send out a notice. Some customers ask if we give notice as to when their pawn is coming due, and I tell them “I’m giving you notice now, this pawn ticket is your notice, and it’s due 90 days from today.” I am not clear on what happened to your jewelry, but I am going to assume that your loans defaulted and the pawn shop now has legal ownership of the jewelry.
