Regular professional supervision was provided as part of the primary welfare officer’s previous position when s/he worked in community welfare positions. How can we provide supervision?
As part of the strategic planning process, schools may need to consider allocating resources for formal professional supervision for primary welfare officers. More informal ways of providing mentoring and debriefing opportunities for primary welfare officers include seeking collegiate support within the school as well as through local professional welfare networks. In these instances, maintaining student confidentiality is important. The Department’s Regional Offices may also be able to support schools with a system of professional supervision and support that is inclusive of primary welfare officers.
