REGARDING THE SHUTTLE RUN, WHAT IS STAGE 6.5?
The way in which the shuttle run test is administered is that the applicants run 4.5 laps of the 20 meters per 1/2 stage. This means that over the course of the total test, you would be running over the 20 meter course approximately 58 times. The pace of the test starts out quite slow and then picks up significantly around stage 4. By stage 5.5, you will be running. If you wish to train for this test, it’s best to jog/run 4 to 5 times a week for at least 25 – 35 minutes. One other way of determining if you are physically capable of reaching stage 6.5 on the test, you may try to run 1.5 miles (2.4 km) in 11.5 minutes or less. If you are able to do this, then you should be physically fit enough to successfully pass the shuttle run test.
