The Elementary/ Middle School RFA states that the local collaborative must determine a policy regarding the students’ attendance patterns in the program. Based on experience and research, the California Department of Education recommends that programs require elementary attendance every day and middle school attendance at least three days per week of the five-day program. • May we hire high school students as tutors or use them as volunteers? In addition, effective practice suggests that tutors receive training to become knowledgeable and able to assist in the instruction of reading, writing, and math.
