Record low temperatures worldwide, where are the global warming nutters now?
If a cold winter is no evidence global warming is a fiction, why should a mild winter be any evidence it is a fact? The point is that this climate change, and it does change, naturally, is really a business of very slow progression and averages. That doesn’t suit the attention span of most people or the media. So we have to be shown ‘global warming icons’, like that ice shelf crashing into the sea – as if bits of ice shelves don’t crash into the sea naturally. This winter is no more than a dent in the averages, but if there are more like it, it will be a bigger dent. I have seen wind turbines turning when there’s no wind – I almost suspect there is really a motor driving them.

Now that we are having record low temperatures you say that a short snap doesn’t prove anything. Do some research. We have had climate change since the World was formed and we have constant change in the polar regions, sometime long term and sometimes very short periods. We have had global cooling from the 1930s to the 1970s, then global warming from the 1970s to nearly 2000, and have now global cooling again. We have only had the technology in the latter parts of the last century to show changes in the polar regions and this has coincided with the very very short period of global warming.
