Rear brakes Pontiac Montana sensitive first thing in the morning?
I have a Pontiac Montana Van – recently the brakes started to act up in the rear. If it sits overnight, the next morning the rear brakes are really sensitive and it seems like I don’t have any brakes on the front (new pads and rotors less than 2000km). I was going to inspect the rear, but remembered having the same problem with a Grand Am. Once I drive it a bit, you wouldn’t know anything was wrong. Thoughts? A: Have had the same problem on several GM cars that had rear shoes. Wheel cylinders can cause this and should be changed first. It is not all that expensive if you can do it yourself or have a friend who can help. Moisture can collect in the cylinders and make them stick. The other thing I have done to remedy the problem is to turn the drums and then grind the shoes to fit the drum. Many shops don’t do this and assume it will “wear in”. Lets say that you have a rear drum after it is turned that is 11.025 inches. The shoes need to be ground for a circle of 11.025 inches to achieve
