Reader Question: What is a Speaker Crossover?
A speaker crossover is a type of electronic filter built into a speaker system that separates the audio signals and sends only the appropriate signal to each speaker. In a three-way speaker, the woofer receives only low frequencies, the midrange driver(s) only mid frequencies and the tweeter receives only high frequencies. A crossover optimizes the speaker’s performance and protects each driver or speaker by sending only those frequencies it is designed to handle. Comments are closed for this post.
