RCA VCR model VR538) displays “LOCK” on the panel. How do I unlock it?
holding the power button on the box or on the remote did not work for me.
With the power on and the "Lock" light Lit, hold the remote (with certain good batteries) aimed at the front panel of the VCR and press and hold VCR1 on the remote for ten seconds. "Hello" is the successful answer. If this is unresponsive, use VCR2 instead. You must hold for ten seconds and the aim must be unwavering, and the batteries must be good, and the LOCK light must be lit. Once you get hello, you have it. Be sure then to use a monitor and see the results, onscreen, and SETUP at least the clock. Then you can power off, and power on, and eject that tape that’s been trapped in there, etc.
