Questions on a chiweenie (chihuahua dachshund mix)?

My girlfriend and I are happy owners of a chihuahua dachshund mix and we couldn’t be more happy with her personality. She is a very active dog (still quite young), always extremely excited to see you when you get home, very dynamically vocal (by this i mean she sings along when my GF and I start singing to the stereo), she does more than barks or howls, she has high pitched singing (for a dog). We also have a cat that she loves to terrorize, but to a point. She never hurts her but will get up and chase her until she gets just out of reach then she will give up. Another of her quirks that i’ve never seen in another dog is that she bucks kind of like a horse would. Either if you’re new and you’re touching her back legs, or you are playing and she starts to get frusterated, she will back up to you and start kicking away. It’s so funny. Also if you don’t want a dog to jump up to high places this dog is perfect, the awkward shape makes jumping any higher than up into your lap impossible.

Please don’t waste money buying a designer dog. You are paying a lot of money for a mutt. They come up with a cute name and then charge a bundle. These folks are nothing but con artists. Nothing wrong with a mixed breed dog, but don’t believe anyone who tells you you get the best of both breeds. You are just a likely to get the worst of both breeds, and since you will be buying from a disreputable breeder, an unhealthy one in addition. Research real breeds and choose one you like and then go to a reputable hobby breeder. Or better yet, go to Petfinder.com and save a life.

Yes, they are the most wonderful dogs in the world. They are very fun dogs and very nice, they’re not temperamental dogs. They are very playful and at sometimes they get excited and bark, but its very cute but not really annoying. They don’t really bark much at all. They love attention and love to cuddle. I know all of this because I have a dachshund, a chihuahua, and a chi-weenie that is the kid of the other 2 dogs. They are very beautiful in the face and have cute ears, a mix between sticking up like a chihuahua and floppy like a dachshund ha ha! My chi-weenie is having babies in a matter of days! I hope you are happy with your new dog and you won’t go wrong by picking a chi-weenie.

There is no valid information on a mixed breed dog. Your Chiweenie is not a real breed. It is a dog that is made up of 2 different breeds, which makes it a mixed breed dog. The dog might be anything, look like anything, and act like anything. There is no standard for mutts, just obviously a gullible market of people who pay too much money for a mixed breed dog.

Impossible to say – random chance as to traits and looks and every dog is different anyway. I do dachshund rescue, we get chiweenies in too, cute as can be all of them, but personality is a matter of idividual case. In any case, you need to take the dog for group obedience classes, both to socialize it and to learn how to train it – at least enough to be manageable, both breeds are pretty headstrong sometimes and need consistent, gentle training. Should be an energetic, amusing dog in any case.
