The funding for these deans positions comes from a separate pot of funds that cannot be used for instruction. By filling three deans positions, the college is cutting back positionsfrom 6 to 3thus saving SFP funds that can be used to further support the special needs for our students. These personnel changes will save these programs almost $300,000 which can be used to provide more services and activities for the target population specified in each grant. During these very tight budget times (limited dollars, the hiring freeze and our inability to replace retiree) we have to exercise every option in order to maximize resources for classes and services for our students. Assignment of full time faculty as ISA or CI has reduced the number of permanent who would be available to the classroom.
