Its a poppy and its for remembrance day which is on the 11th November You buy a poppy and the money, goes to the war veterans or their wives the poppy was the first flower to appear on the battle fields over in France after the killing and destruction was over in WW1.

The flower is a red poppy from the British Legion. It is worn to remember the sacrifice of those who died in the War. Rememberance day is the 11th of November.
