Question from Mason: I am wondering what are the best glass bottles for kombucha?
Any ordinary glass container. (Do not keep the lid tight though… a) Gasses would cause pressure and might break the container… b) “K” tea needs oxygen… you would not want the growth of “anaerobic” bacillus and bacteria. Almost all of the non-oxygen loving organisms are pathogenic! Anyway, back to the typr of glass… use any type of glasses that are not “Crystal”. I wouldn’t even drink “K” tea from the fancy “Crystal” glass! As you know, crystals; vases, drinking wine glasses etc. contain lead (Up to 25%, and they brag about it on a label on the side or on the bottom). Anyway the lead would leach out into your brew (which is partially acid), and not only would kill the “Live” organisms in your brew, it might even kill you due to the lead poisoning! Though the effect might not be immediate, but it would be accumulative. USE ANY OL’ GLASS!!!
