Question for people who are from Haiti?
First I must state that Haiti does not have a “prime minister”, the head of state/country is the “president”….that makes a big difference. Contrary to popular belief, the country is safe…it all depends where you are travelling to…the countryside is much safer certain parts of Port-au-Prince. my girlfriend recently travelled to Turjeau (located within the city) and she felt very safe and stated that it was beautiful. The media paints a very bad picture of the country and most people do not realized that we have many foreigners living and enjoying the beautiful beaches and great view of the mountains the country has to offer. Yes, there is a lack of education between the Bourjeois and the poor, yes, we need more trees to sustain the land, yes, the vast majority of the people are poor, yes, we need a stronger government and policies…..but the government currently in place cannot change years of devastation and famine.
