Question about an automatic shifter on a car??

0

I have a 2005 Kia Spectra that only has 27,000 miles on it (I’m the original owner). Car runs perfect, but starting 2 weeks ago my automatic shifter has been “sticking”. It is very hard to put it into Park from Drive…I literally have to sit there and wiggle it and finally just jam it forward, and when I do that it makes a weird cracking sound from underneath it…I don’t know if I dropped a coin in it somehow or what, but I’ve always taken care of my car and kept it clean. Any ideas on what is going on, and if this should be covered under the warranty (the dealership won’t tell me until I take it in and get it fully diagnosed…it’s over an hour away!!) ? BTW, my boyfriend mentioned that it probably just needs to be greased…but I want some more advice as well before I get all stressed about it. Thanks for your time! Ok…thank you, good point, but I’ve been driving for nearly 10 years…I DO have the brake down anytime I need to use the shifter, so I know that’s not the problem. A:
