Puts new meaning in “Peel out!” Would you be interested in using tires made from orange peel Oil instead of petroleum product?
I will have no problems using tires made of natural rubber. The rubber trees absorb a lot of CO2 and release oxygen into the atmosphere. Even when chemicals must be used to separate rubber from the milk tapped from the trees, the benefits far outweigh the harms. . Manufacture of synthetic rubber tires involves too much of pollution. Carbon Black, for instance, is made by burning acetylene gas in closed furnaces and scrapping out the carbon deposits from the walls. It is highly polluting in that the burning process releases not only CO2 but a lot of other obnoxious gases. Disposal of the spent calcium carbide too poses environmental challenges. Synthetic tires a NO NO for me and I have not been using them for as long as I can remember. . This new technology to replace petroleum with orange peel oil in the making of synthetic rubber is most welcome. 80% petroleum free tires will be most acceptable at the current level of technology. Lets hope products using this technology hit the market
