Pure and Applied Physics – whats it about?
We have considerable experience in helping students attain their full potential; students following these programmes are currently achieving great success. At Salford Physics, you will develop strong skills that are well matched to the needs of future employers in the scientific, engineering, industrial and other commercial sectors. The first year of Pure and Applied Physics is specifically designed for those who have underachieved in mathematics – to an extent that would normally preclude direct entry into a Physics degree course. The first year contains 50% additional mathematics tuition, provided in small group tutorials and through computer-aided learning. Students also tend to appreciate our relaxed, friendly and helpful learning environment – with first year mathematical modules being continuously assessed (as opposed to progress determined mainly through examinations, as is the norm in many Universities).
