There is a post office, phone, and store at Cima, but the store is often closed. • Baker, ugly highway town. Between Baker and Mountain Pass are a couple of places: Valley Wells (gas station and store, pretty reliable), Halloran Summit and Halloran Springs (pretty reliable). Between Baker and Crucero is the Desert Studies Center at Zzyxz, academic facility. • Chambless, gas station, very small store, trailer park, ugly. Last I heard Amboy was closed. There is nothing at Bagdad. • Kelso, Railroad town, beg water from railroad, or National Park Service ranger. • Afton Canyon Campground, Bureau of Land Management • Lake Dolores, water slides, location uncertain, somewhere between Calico and Afton Canyon. • Calico, amusement park and county park. • Ludlow, ugly two gas station town. • Newberry Springs Highway Rest Sto
