The required number of credit hours (i.e. 75 hours) is required for all students. The Ph.D. in SLAIT is interdisciplinary between Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Technology as well as the College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences. If you have taken, for example, Sociolinguistics (which is a core course) in your Master’s program, then the faculty will probably suggest that you take an alternative course more suited towards your area of interest.
