Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene which finds numerous applications. PTFE is most well known by the DuPontTM brand name Teflon®. Due to its low friction, it is used for applications where sliding action (lubrication) of parts is needed.
