We went from 1981, doing the Leonard-Hearns fight, to the Ice World fights getting the break on NBC, which was that first group of fighters that we signed when Shelly was involved. That was Alex Ramos, Tyrell Biggs, and, Bobby Czyz. In 1980, we signed that group, and Johnny Bumphus was one of them. Rocky Lockridge was already fighting with us in 1979. Livingstone Bramble was part of the 1980 group. That first group was fighting on NBC. I think that they got some of their fights early on on the ESPN shows as well. We did some terrific shows from there. That’s where we grew and developed Rocky Lockridge and Livingstone Bramble and Bobby Czyz and Johnny Verderosa and Pinklon Thomas. Up until then, you couldn’t really get on a network without going through Top Rank or Don King. How so? Well, the television networks wouldn’t even deal with you unless you came through Don King or Bob Arum. They really would not let an independent promoter come on unless you had dealt with Top Rank or Don Kin
