Prior to Advansys Formativ, was Novell GroupWise immune from script viruses?

No. Script viruses could be written to infect any email system, including GroupWise. All that was required was the VBS/VBE file association to be enabled, and a script virus written specifically for the Novell GroupWise object model. The only reason GroupWise users have not been victims of script viruses is that no-one has written viruses specifically for GroupWise. This is all possible without having Formativ installed. Installing Formativ actually reduces the risk of being infected by a Visual Basic Script virus as it provides the opportunity to disable the association between .VBS/.VBE files and the Windows Script Host.
