Previously, I used a different tax software package, but I would like to switch to GenuTax. Will GenuTax import the tax return information I entered using another tax software package?
Other tax software developers have gone to great lengths to encrypt the contents of their tax return files, to ensure the confidentiality of tax information entered, and for anti-competitive reasons. These file formats are often altered from year to year. Rather than spend a great deal of time and effort attempting to decrypt our competitors’ file formats, with unpredictable results, we have designed the interview in GenuTax so that, whenever an amount to be carried forward from a previous year is requested, you are clearly instructed as to where to find the carry forward amount, such as from a certain line on a certain form from your previous-year’s tax return. Alternatively, since GenuTax Standard is multiyear tax software, you have the option of re-creating your prior year tax return using GenuTax Standard. Then, when you create the next year’s tax return in the same GenuTax taxpayer file, all relevant tax amounts will be automatically carried forward.
