Premature Retiral:-If a member has attained the age of 50 by 6 April 2010 do they retain the right to retire before 55 ?
A. To be eligible for premature retirement a member must have attained age 50, if he or she is not a post-5th April 2006 entrant, and has attained that age before 6th April 2010. Post 30 June 2006 entrants have a minimum pension age of 55. From 6th April 2010 ALL members will have a Minimum Pension Age of 55. Q. Has communication relating to the increase in contributions been relayed to members. A. Extensive consultation has taken place with members through employer representatives. Following these seminars a “flyer” will be circulated to all employers detailing the main changes, including the change of contribution rate. Employers can disseminate this to members.
