Preferably those on the side against – does England have free speech?
There are a number of areas where we do not have totally free speech. Obvious ones are regarding race and religion and sexuality. It used to be that one could stand on a street corner and say something along the lines of “being gay is an abomination and should be illegal” or “anyone not church of England christian is a child murderer and should be hung”. You would attract a crowd of hecklers and people would probably just laugh. Now if you said the same sort of things you would be arrested for “hate” crimes. Speaking out or displaying your displeasure at the government used to be a national pastime and heckling was an accepted way of bringing politicians down to earth. This is now treated as “terrorism” and you cannot even wear a t-shirt with an anti government slogan on it if you are within sight of a Labour conference.
