Pokémon D/P] TM30 Shadow Ball. Is it a Special type or a Physical type?
You are correct with both of those answers, but it varies like this: In RBY versions up to FRLG versions moves were based special and physical solely on the type, and ghost was a physical type( stupid because the only ghosts in the begining were special sweepers but thats besides the point), but in D/P/Pt they introduced types being both special and physical, so while shadow ball in the older versions was physical (and great for metagross I think), in the new games it is a special attack.
