Plz help ladies! How long will I be in hospital for a laparoscopy to diagnose endometriosis?
When my friend had a laparoscopy she was able to leave the hospital the same day she had it. She was put under general anesthetic, had the operation, had lunch in the hospital and when she was feeling a bit more human went home. She was in a bit of pain after but they gave her painkillers. Apparently she had really achey shoulders which she was told because of the gas that they pumped into her uterus (sorry but i can’t remember why it hurt her shoulders – something to do with the gas leaving her body…) also the incision that they made on her stomach was a bit painful. She was still feeling a bit rough the next day but from what i remember was fine after that. I’m assuming your doctor has told you what the laparoscopy actually involves but if not they basically make a small incision near your belly button and pump your uterus full of gas, then put in a camera to look around. After that they close the incision either with glue or a couple of stitches. I hope it all goes ok!
