Some believe that you should water when the temp is “reasonable” because if it’s too cool then you can promote fungi or rot and if it’s too warm then you can lose some of the benefit by evaporation or “boil” the leaves and stalks as the water that falls on the plant rapidly heats. I’m not obsessive compulsive about it but will wait until the shade comes over them in the late afternoon and the temp is at least 60 deg but not more than 80. It’s a habit and I continue to do it because the plants have successfully produced a bountiful crop.
