These grow on trees, but to harvest them isn’t like picking apples (or even other nuts like walnuts or pecans). Cashews are from the same family as poison ivy and poison sumac, and the shell around the edible nuts will cause a rash, and if eaten is quite toxic. Plus, you’d have to live in a tropical climate to grow these – they don’t tolerate cold that well. Unless you’re planning on harvesting them on a larger scale for sale, it may just be best to buy the nuts at the grocery.
