This song expresses wonder and joy at just being alive, at realizing that there is beauty to be found in almost every aspect of existence. In the first verse, the singer marvels at green trees and red roses, and remarks that they bloom “for me and you”. But if one looks at flora objectively, they bloom for themselves, to perpetuate themselves. However, the singer extracts such joy from watching things bloom that they might as well be blooming just for him. He is able to look past the objective reality, find the beauty in the situation and “just be”. The thought is continued in the second verse, where he marvels at blue skies, white clouds, sunlight and the stillness of night. These are all simple things, often taken for granted, but the singer pauses to observe just how wonderful and moving they can be.
