There would not be a re-vote. The President and the Vice President are elected by electoral votes. In almost all cases, the ticket that gets the most votes in a state wins all the electoral votes of the state. The number of electoral votes is equal to the total number of the senators and congressmen in the state. (This is done chiefly to make sure that someone doesn’t become president merely by getting like 80% of the vote in a few states – they have to show strength in many areas of the country to win.) You need a majority of the electoral votes to win. If no one gets a majority, the president is elected by the House of Representatives. Each state delegation gets ONE vote, so if there are more Republican congressmen in a state then one would expect the Republican ticket get the vote, and vice-versa.
