Planning a multi-month hike on the PCT seems overwhelming. How did you begin planning and how did that process progress?

Even after all the wilderness trips I’ve taken, I too feel that sense of confusion when first begining to plan a new adventure. Getting organized is my way of attacking the problem and with the internet this process has never been easier since there is now so much more information available (like my website) just floating around out there in cyberspace just waiting for someone to harness it’s wealth. I did ALL of my research through random search engine searches, the Pacific Crest Trail Association, and interacting on the various mailing lists out there like the PCT-L. After a while I learned how the guidebooks split the PCT into five regional sections: Southern California, Central California, Northern California, Oregon, and Washington which broke my research down into smaller segments which was helpful in getting my mind prepared.
