Pertaining to Star Trek uniforms/uniform colors, what would you say a librarian on board ship would wear?
Answer Hi Sarah, That’s an interesting question, and unfortunately there is no info in the series to help with it. There are no episodes that feature a Star Fleet librarian, most likely because the computer’s database makes it possible to call up any document/book you want at any time. My guess would be that because of that, there are no librarians in Star Fleet, because libraries themselves are no longer necessary. However, if there were librarians, they would most likely wear a blue uniform, as blue is the color of the sciences. “Library and Information Sciences” is the term for what librarians today study/have a degree in, so that would make the most sense in a Star Trek setting. (There is at least one classic Trek episode that features a librarian, but he’s from another race and lives on an alien planet no way affiliated with Star Fleet, so as far as uniform colors go he wouldn’t apply.)
