People seem so concerned about sleep these days yet treat it as a luxury, what are the health risks of insomnia?
Studies show that lack of restful sleep causes depression, anxiety disorders and other psychological disorders, poor work performance, increased risk of physical injury, weight gain/obesity, heart disease, colon cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, decreased immune function, alcohol and drug abuse or dependence and suicide. Overall, very poor mental and physical health and an increased risk of death.
