Yes, there is an official ladder which the game defaults to. There is also ladder kit. This new system allows anyone interested to create his or her own ladder. There are gaming sites and organization that wish to have their own leagues in various RTS games. The way these leagues are done now is the honor system. Basically you just have contestants register to a league and follow a written schedule of matches and then report the results to the league administrators. With the new ladder kit any gaming site or gaming organization is able to create its own league that will actually report to a designated server of that organization/site and will be that much more accurate.
