And yes, C#–an object oriented, C-like programming language similar to Java–is the preferred language for .NET development. But Java isn’t the first object-oriented C-like language, and it certainly isn’t the first developer tool to offer a run-time environment (indeed, Microsoft has used a run-time environment for Visual Basic for almost a decade, beginning well before Java was invented).
