Parakeet biting everything. How do I train it?
There’s a difference between the biting and the nibbling that birds do. If they are nibbling then that is how they show affection. And also he/she could be biting hard because of the way people are handling it or because of its previous owner abusing or neglecting it in someway. Birds have a sense for our tone of voice. So telling them ‘no’ in a stern voice and also blowing on them will help them to understand that they should not be doing that. And like you also said, you wanted the bird to do something else- do you have toys and treats in and on the outside of the cage for it? Like mirrors, cuddle bones, millet sprays, bells?
