• A: This happens when Outlook is working “offline” (i.e. Outlook thinks it cannot connect to the server). This can happen if you press “Cancel” when prompted for your password as Outlook launches, or if network or server problems occur. To switch back to “Online” mode, left click the word Offline at the bottom right of the Outlook window and un-select Work Offline. Outlook will now try to re-connect to the mail server. Another way to switch back to Online mode is to go to the File Menu and un-select Work Offline. Once you are re-connected, you may be asked for your username and password. Purdue Exchange server users should type username: ONEPURDUE\career_account_id.
