Out of the returners, who is taking a leadership role?
Our two team captains, seniors Olivia Dean (Aurora, Colo.) and Amanda McNally (Lone Tree, Colo.) on the women’s side had great summers: Olivia qualified for the US Open in the 100 fly and Amanda just missed those cuts. With many freshmen, we definitely wanted to get everyone on the same page as far as how we compete and how we train and that has happened. They’re doing a great job of leading our girls. On the guys’ side, we couldn’t ask for more from Garth Summers (Portland, Ore.), he’s our fastest returner in the 200 free, the 200 fly and the 100 fly. I look for him to have a great year, including a trip to the NCAAs. Our other captain Cody Stambaugh (Denver, Colo.) is coming back for his fifth year and I’d like to see him win his first conference championship and be at the NCAAs in diving. How do you prepare for a home meet versus an away meet? Our dual meet season is just training events and I like to use them as a gauge to see where we’re at. But, anytime we can get out and race I
