Qban boy’s right in that the ACT has only one math section, but it has 60 math questions, while the SAT’s three math sections only have a combined total of 54 questions (unless you get an experimental math section that doesn’t count for your grade, like I did). Plus, the SAT math is divided up into short 16-24 question sections, so you don’t feel like you’re trapped doing math forever. =P The ACT math is pretty straightforward. If you’ve taken up to Precalculus/Trig, there’s no reason why you should not get a 35 or 36. For example, they might give you a right triangle ABC, with theta at C, the measures of one of the legs, and you have to find the hypotenuse. The SAT math only goes up to Algebra II, but there’s more critical thinking involved. There will never be any sine/cosine/tangent/other trigonometry stuff, but I cannot confidently say that anyone who has taken up to Algebra II will score a 750+ on the math section.
