Our water smells musty or has too much chlorine in it, what is wrong with it?
A. A musty odor or water that smells like chlorine, usually indicates low usage areas need to be flushed. Other factors which cause the odor are naturally occurring minerals and/or algae. The California Department of Health Services requires the District to maintain a certain level of chlorine in the water to ensure that it remains bacteria free. This small amount of chlorine is harmless to people.
