Our school would like to implement an innovative program, but we lack funding. Does the KCSS provide funding for alternative or school safety programs?
A. KCSS Competitive Grants were available during fiscal year 1999 and fiscal year 2000.The General Assembly will decide in the 2000 session how those monies will be distributed in the future. There are several other sources for alternative education funding, however. OJJDP and DJJ have grant monies available, and the Federal Register is an excellent source for federal monies. To search the Federal Register, go to http://fr.cos.com/ and enter the keywords for the type of program you are considering.
