Our organization can’t accept referrals or help with another group’s follow up care—why should we participate in MMEX?
Sharing information on the Medical Mission Exchange website in no way obliges any participant to take on referrals. The shared information can help in many other ways: • Doctors with your organization can use the information available on Medical Mission Exchange to locate visiting specialists on other missions; someone to whom they could refer patients if necessary. • Your organization can use the Medical Mission Exchange calendar database to coordinate its own medical missions. • Information sharing prevents groups from “doubling up” in one area, while neglecting another area. • Information sharing can help build relationships with new in-country organizations, and forge alliances with other medical mission organizations.
