Other than to the Mall (seen it/done it), what’s the best day trip to take a houseful of guests that include lots of kids this holiday season?
First choice: If you’ve got an active group, and the weather is nice, I’d take them to Great Falls (Maryland) for a hike. The falls are a delight, and you can hike the C & O canal towpath north or south for as far as your legs will take you. Work off the cookies and candies; wear out the rambunctious youngsters. Second choice: Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for the National Aquarium; Fort McHenry; Port Discovery for educational adventures and Kids Work, a maze of tunnels, bridges, rope ladders, slides and tree house; and the Maryland Science Center for a simulated dinosaur dig.
