Other than introducing people to new beers and brewers, whats the objective of Beer Week?
PELTIER: Well, to start, we’re kicking it off with Tap: Detroit, where one of the main focuses is beer and food. We’ll have seven or eight local restaurants pairing beer with food … so people can enjoy dishes (from each) paired with different beers. We want to show people that beer isn’t just for tailgating or sitting at the bar. It deserves a place at the dinner table. PIEPENBROK: What we are also trying to do is put a focus on the city of Detroit and bring people downtown. … We’re (creating) all of these cool events, so people can visit all these bars and destinations and experience new flavors. Maybe now, they come once a month to Slows but not to Detroit Beer Co., or they come to the Woodbridge Pub but not Grand Trunk. We want people to discover more places.
