Other nursing programs use essays, tests, volunteer service or interviews in the selection process. Why are TCC applications based on the grades of a few selected courses alone?
TCC reviews over 300 applications each entry period. We want to view you as an individual, and to review this many applications we need a fair and impartial process – here is why we don’t review the above. Essays: criteria for grading over 300 makes differences in scores minimal. Testing: research shows students do better with strong math and science background, we feel selected course grades demonstrate this. Volunteer service: we do not want to handicap those who may not have time to do this such as single parents with multiple children. Interviews: time, manpower and space prohibit this.
